See you in January!

I want to let everyone know that I am taking time off until January to spend with my new son. I will be finished editing all fall portrait sessions this week but unfortunately will not be shooting any new sessions for about a month and a half. I am still scheduling wedding consultations for next year if you are interested in using me as your photographer.

Thanks for your support and understanding during this time! Please contact me at 614.805.3982 or at snapshotsbymelissa@gmail.com for any questions about portrait sessions for to schedule a wedding consultation.

Jessica & Zack | Engagement

Jessica & Zack are getting hitched next year and I have the honor of being their wedding photographer. A few weeks ago we ventured to OSU for their engagement session and I got to know these two a little better.

Jessica & Zack are such a fun couple and were super easy to work with. I'm really looking forward to their fall wedding next year. We did a lot of shots around Mirror Lake (Zack is an OSU alum and has jumped in several times...he was even talking about going in this year!) and the brand spankin' new library. Although the sun was working against us (we had to do an evening shoot) I got plenty of shots of these two in a short amount of time.

Thanks Jessica & Zack...can't wait until the wedding!

Reagan & Family

I had a great family photo session a couple of weeks ago with little Reagan and her parents, Jen & Larry who wanted to commemorate her 1st birthday with photos. Reagan is a cutie and is quite the mover.

We wandered around Goodale Park in the Short North for about 45 minutes before Reagan decided that she had enough photos taken of her and that lunch sounded like a better idea:) She is such a doll and I took some wonderful shots of her.

Thanks to Reagan & her family for letting me spend an hour of their afternoon with them.

One big extended family shoot!

You might remember Chelsie from a senior shoot I did a few weeks ago...well her mom, Lisa, wanted me to take some pictures of their family as well as her brother and sister's families. I gladly obliged and we braved the cold (it was freezing!) last weekend to get some great family shots at Franklin Park.

Here are just a few from the session, I tried to fit one of every family in...and of course one of adorable baby Noah!

Elisabeth | Senior 2010

I was so happy to have the opportunity to shoot Elisabeth this past weekend. She is a beautiful senior at Big Walnut this year and will be the last senior I shoot until I come back from maternity leave.

Boy did I end this year with a bang...Elisabeth's session turned out great. In order to avoid the freezing temperatures and possible rain we held the shoot at Elisabeth's beautiful house in Galena. There were so many elements to work with in the house and we even braved the cold for a couple of amazing outdoor shots.

Thanks to Elisabeth and her mom and sister for letting me spend the morning with them!

Kristen & Dennis | Engagement

I had the opportunity to hang out with Kristen & Dennis this past Saturday morning to celebrate their engagement with some photos. They are such a wonderful couple and I am also privileged to shoot their wedding next June.

We started at the main library downtown and walked to the statehouse and back. I love shooting downtown Columbus, there is always something new to discover around every corner:) I finally got to do some engagement shots at a mural downtown that I've been eyeing for over a year. I think you will agree that it is perfect for engagement pictures:) Although I think we wore Dennis out by the end (or maybe he was just ready to watch some football) we got some amazing shots from these two.

Thanks Kristen & Dennis, I'm looking forward to your wedding!

Steve, Mary Ellen & Amelia

I got to spend a morning with Steve and Mary Ellen and their 2 month old daughter Amelia. She is such a cutie and they are such wonderful parents!

Steve & Mary Ellen live in Boston, but have family in Zanesville (I went to school with her sister, Allison) so they wanted me to take some photos while they were nearby visiting family.

Being around Amelia made me so excited for the impending arrival of my little one (due to arrive in about 5 weeks!) and I'm so happy that I was able to capture a day in her life.

Thanks Steve, Mary Ellen & Amelia!

Jason & Jessica | Engagement

I can't wait to shoot Jason & Jessica's wedding next July. They are holding the ceremony at BOMA (a church turned art museum/bar in downtown Columbus) with a reception at the Crowne Plaza. It should be a fantastic event with tons of great photo opportunities:)

In the meantime I was able to shoot their engagement session this past weekend. These two are so easy to work with, I hardly had to pose them. I told them to act natural and in love and they definitely took that to heart.

Although it was a blustery gray day we made the most of our shoot at OSU (where they met....awwwwwwww) and walked around to quite a few different spots. We even stopped into a record store on High St. which made an awesome backdrop.

Thanks Jason & Jessica...I can't wait until next summer!
