Believe me, I did a lot more interesting things today than eating chips and while editing photos.  Sometimes I just need to detach from taking photos and remember to fully enjoy the moment without worrying about capturing it forever.  So all you get today is chips:)

I spent Wednesday morning scraping candle wax off of my beautiful hardwood floor and carpet.  I'm such a klutz sometimes.

I didn't actually take this photo today.  I took it last week during a photowalk with my friend, Emily, but I forgot to take one today so this is all you get.  Can you believe this is in Columbus?  It looks like NYC or Chicago.

Umm, so I've been slacking just a little this week at the 365 project.  The only photo I took on Monday was this adorable phone pictures of Theo playing fetch with our dog, Harvey.

What a beautiful day to get married!

I can't believe how fabulous this Sunday was.  Woke up with a hankerin' for a bagel so we finally tried Block's Bagels on E. Broad.   The everything bagel with veggie cream cheese was mighty delicious and I see many more Block's trips in our future.   We ventured to Pataskala to pick apples at Lynd's Fruit Farm with my dad then rounded out the evening with dinner at Buca di Beppo with my in-laws.  We even had time for a little relaxing in there.  Perfect.

Another photo that was taken during a wedding.  What a gorgeous fall day.

The Shannons | 9.18.10

Oh wow, this wedding was awesome.  The Shannons (yes both of their names are Shannon, check out their engagement session here) are both amazing people with an amazing bond.   Oh my goodness, looking through their photos makes me smile.  Now that's a good feelin'!

From all of the vintage details Miss (now Mrs!) Shannon came up with to the AMAZING brooch bouquet she carried to the gorgeous cupcakes they had I just couldn't get enough of this wedding.

I truly think I could gush all day about this wedding, but I should probably just let you look at the pictures and I will explain as we go:)

She got her beautiful flower hairpieces off of etsy.com.  I love that site!

I really do think her dress was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.  It fit her perfectly.

This is the moment that changed Shannon's demeanor from being calm and mostly relaxed to being full of nervous energy.  Her father came in to bring them McDonalds and started to get emotional which in turn made Shannon emotional:)  It was such a beautiful moment.

Oh my, she is gorgeous!

I loved the guys' tuxes.  They were so much fun to take photos of!

Mr. Shannon was looking quite dapper.

These looks just kill me (in a good way!)

When Mrs. Shannon was getting ready she told me that our goal was to get on the cover of Columbus Bride.  I told her this is the shot!

Love, love the details.  See the S's above the fireplace?  They may look familiar from their engagement session:)  That was one of the first things I noticed when I walked in!

Like I've said before, I don't normally get very teary at weddings but this dance Mr. Shannon did with his grandmother did me in.  Good thing I had a camera to hide behind:)

The reception was fantastic.  They had a milkshake bar (awesome, right?) and even planned a pirate themed after party.  Mrs. Shannon was breaking it down all night.  I was amazed at the moves she could pull off in her wedding dress:)  I love the last photo of her son Dylan exhausted after some great break dancing.

The ceremony and reception were both held at Northepoine Conference Center, which is a FANTASTIC venue.

Thank you so, so much Shannons for your hospitality and for letting me be such a big part of your day.

Please check out the slideshow for more photos.  I'm having issues with my software so there is no music, but I recommend listening to this youtube video of Ray Lamontagne along with it:)

I'm from Zanesville and most of my family still lives there so we make the hour trek once at least every two weeks to visit.  This last Friday was the WORST day to pick to go there.  Interstate 70 was literally closed for 12 hours both ways which meant a 3 mile detour that took an HOUR!  Luckily I had my camera with me and took many photos out the window.  I call it drive-by photography.

Ahhhhhh I can't begin to tell how in love I am with Theo's new room.  We weren't able to design a nursery for him before he was born because we barely got our bedroom finished in time (if you're new, we are rehabbing a house).  So it was so much fun to design this room for him.

Our theme is travel/adventure.  Hence the hot air balloon and clouds above his crib.  There will also be a trunk full of toys under the pennant and other touches that I will probably post about later, because did I mention HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS ROOM?!!

And yes, I spent hours slaving (sewing) away at his curtains, pennant and clouds.  I love how they all turned out and I love that I can make cheap diy decorations:)

In case you don't remember, here is what the room looked like BEFORE: http://melissapauquettephotos.blogspot.com/2010/08/2365.html

Mike, Natalie & Annalise | Family

This shoot came about because of lava rocks.  That's right, those landscaping rocks that look like they came from the moon.

You see, a few months ago, Brad & I thought a zen garden would be a fantastic addition to our pitiful backyard. We wanted to add some lava rocks because that would reduce the amount of weeding and upkeep we would have to do, but do you realize how expensive lava rocks are?  In case you don't know, the answer is very.

We are craigslist addicts.  We sell and buy equally on the site, and one day when I was scouring it I found that someone had a bunch of lava rocks they wanted to give away for FREE!  SCORE!

We arrived at Natalie & Mike's house to a smiling group of people who were totally willing to help us scoop the rocks in our truck.  This generally never happens to us with craigslist finds, most people aren't very helpful.   We talked to Mike a bit while scooping rocks and he told us that his wife Natalie had checked out our website (simplyonelife.org, it appears at the bottom of our personal email.) and really liked what we were trying to do.

When we got home something told me I should keep in contact with them.  It was one of those God feelings, a strong feeling that I knew I wasn't in control of.  If you've had one you will know exactly what I mean, if not you will definitely find me creepy.  So in true creeper style I emailed Natalie and told her how appreciative we were of the lava rocks and told her that I would love to take some family photos for them in exchange (they have a little girl who is just a few weeks older than Theo).  She agreed and we finally got a date set!

Which brings us to the Jeffrey Mansion on a beautiful September evening.  Mike, Natalie & their beautiful daughter Annalise brought wonderful energy to their shoot.  They are such simple and kind people, a wonderful reminder of what I strive to be.  I was glad to be able to talk with them more about their story and share some of mine.

Thank you so much Mike, Natalie & Annalise.  Hopefully I didn't totally creep you out and I can't wait for Annalise & Theo to have a playdate at Jeffrey Park!

Isn't she so adorable??

I love this next photo.  Sometimes it's capturing the in between moments that are the best:)

Natalie & Mike are both alumni of OSU so of course they wanted a few photos of Annalise in her Ohio State chair.  About a minute in to taking photos a buckeye dropped to the ground!  Little did I know I positioned her right under a Buckeye tree!  Perfect!

This next photo is for her daddy:)

The Shannons | Sneak peek!

Eeek, I can't wait to show you more from this beautiful wedding!

I went on a photowalk of downtown with my friend Emily who is also a photographer.  If you live in Columbus and have never ventured into the Statehouse please do.  If you look around you will find amazing things like this rotunda!

34/365

On Sunday we were having a blah day so I decided to drive us to Yellow Springs for a nice little afternoon.  After ordering coffees we realized that we only had $3 and no debit cards (super unprepared, I know, but lucky for us the nice man behind us in line paid the other half of our coffee bill) so our trip was cut short.  Found this little doggie in the parking lot of the gas station there.  I think he was waiting for his owner to come back out:)

So the only photos I took on Saturday were at the wedding I was shooting (sorry, but the last thing I wanted to do after shooting for 12 hours was take more photos) but I figured this would work for the 365 project:)

Remnants Blog

Remember Carl & Kelly's beautiful wedding details?

Kelly's sister, Sharon, designed ALL OF IT!  Crazy, right?  It was such a great personal touch to have at their wedding.

Sharon writes a blog: remnantsblog.com, that features inspirations for her graphic design work.  Check it out!

Here is an article she wrote about Kelly's wedding where she featured some of my photos: http://www.remnantsblog.com/oh-hello-or-a-quick-update-on-life/

It's always so exciting to see my work featured somewhere else.  It gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling inside:)

AND, if you love Sharon's design work (which I'm sure you do) please contact her for more information.  Wedding invitation design is something that she loves to do and I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Thanks Sharon!
