Barley's Smokehouse has the most amazing pulled pork sandwich.  Pair it with their Scottish Ale & you are set.

Matt & Allyson | 8.14.10

I can't believe Matt & Ally's wedding has already come and gone.  It seems like only yesterday we were taking their engagement photos on a chilly and windy April Saturday.  I knew their wedding was bound to be as fun and carefree as their engagement session was.

Ally was a laughing, relaxed & beautiful bride.  Getting ready in the basement of St. Michael's she was calm and ready to meet her husband at the altar.

They had a beautiful wedding in the gorgeous St. Michael's Catholic Church in Worthington.  It was a stinkin' hot day, the kind of day that makes you want to go inside, shut the blinds & not move.  But the wedding party happily trudged (with cold water in hand!) to the Whetstone Park of Roses after the ceremony for a few photos. We decided to cut the portrait shoot short because ummm.... did I mention the heat???  It was a good thing we did because as we got to our cars a mean thunderstorm began rolling in.

The reception at the Crown Plaza North was beautiful.  I was surprised that they have an event tent connected to the hotel that gives a completely different and outdoorsy feel to a wedding reception.

Matt & Ally laughed, talked and danced with each other.  They fed each other cake (nicely!) and did a sand ceremony to symbolize the joining of their two lives.

I couldn't be happier for them.  They both just light up when they look at each other.  It's truly an amazing thing:)

Congrats Matt & Ally, and thank you so much!

Dime-a-dog at the Clippers!  Once we got there I realized I didn't have a memory card in my DSLR so this was taken with my point and shoot.

Amelia | 1 year

I love that I have gotten to see Amelia grow this past year.  From her 2 month shots, to her 6 month to her turning 1 this past weekend, she has grown into quite the little lady!

I had a great time following her around as she played with her new toys, looked out the window, hung out in a hammock & played in the pool.

Thanks again Steve, Mary Ellen & Amelia.  It's always a pleasure taking pictures of your beautiful family!

Carl & Kelly | 8.13.10

I met Carl a while back through mutual friends but I didn't get to meet Kelly until we had our initial photography consultation.  I instantly felt like I had known her much longer.  They are both such kind souls and their happiness rubs off onto you.

Carl & Kelly were married on a very warm hot day last Friday at the Venue @ Smith Brothers.  They opted to do a first look which was very exciting for me because most of my clients don't want to see each other before the ceremony.   I absolutely LOVED having an entire hour to walk around the Short North with the wedding party.  I'm pretty sure the best words a photographer can hear from a bride are "can we get ice cream?".  Ummm...YES!  The first look allowed for a much more relaxed shoot than doing the portraits after the ceremony.  There was no reception to rush back to which means the wedding party couldn't complain about not getting to enjoy the cocktail hour:)

I'm having a hard time putting into words how beautiful Carl & Kelly's relationship is.  I guess I'll just let you look at the photos and see it for yourself.   Be sure to check out the slideshow for more photos!

Kelly was a natural at being a bride.  While her bridesmaids were rushing around the hotel room trying to get their dresses on and makeup touched up Kelly stood in the middle joking around and commenting on how good they looked.

Carl seeing his bride for the first time!

Kelly did an amazing job of picking the colors and details for the wedding.  Gray & yellow?!  So unique and simple.  Oh, and did I mention that they hand letterpressed (I think that's the word) all of the stationary for their wedding?  It added such a great personal touch to affair.

Thanks Jeni's!!!!  Northing like a little wedding day ice cream:)

This might be my favorite shot ever of a bridal party.  Everyone looks so perfectly relaxed and informal!

Carl's sister, Lori, MADE the wedding cake.  Let's all give her a round of applause!  And, oh yea, that's Carl getting cake smashed on the top of his head.

As you can tell, the reception was enjoyed by everyone.  See the woman in the bottom right doing an amazing air guitar?  That's Raine, you might remember that I photographed her wedding last September.  It's all a big wedding and friend circle:)

I just had to put this photobooth photo in because every time I see it I laugh.  The guy on the right isn't really that short, but he did a great job of making it look that way.

Ahh the end to a great night.

I can't say thanks enough to Carl & Kelly for letting me be such a big part of your day.  I am so, so happy for you two!

I've mentioned in previous posts that we are rehabbing a house on the near east side of Columbus.  For the past 9 months, Theo has been living in a nook off our bedroom that we think used to be a porch but seeing as how every creak of our floorboards wakes him up it's time to move him to a new room.

This has been our sewing/junk nook since moving into the house.  Now I need some energy and TIME to paint (no, actually, I don't think I'll keep this beautiful orange color) and refinish the floors.

1/365

When I first started taking photos with a dSLR 3 years ago I stumbled upon a wonderful photo community known as flickr.  I started posting my photos on there and learned tons from other photographers.  I found that a popular thing to do was take a picture a day for an entire year.  I tried but didn't make it past two months.

The other day I was looking back through some of my first artsy photos and was kind of impressed by them.  Sure the technical side of a lot of them weren't perfect, but they are so creative!  Once I started taking photos for other people and for a profession I started to lose interest in shooting everyday things.  I'm sure every photographer struggles with this but recently I was hit with the desire to be creative again!

So........I've decided to try the 365 photo project once again and document it here on my blog.  I can't guarantee I will get through an entire year but I will try my darndest to.  The photos will not always be interesting or even good (in my opinion, cell phone photos count:)) but it will document one year in my life and I know I will be thankful for this in the future.

There will be times when I don't get something posted everyday due to work and time constraints but I will backlog the photos and post them when I can.  I may have a little to say with the photos, but I imagine most of the time I will stay silent.

I hope you enjoy this.  You can keep up with my posts on my facebook page.

Without further ado, day 1 of 365.

Oatmeal choco-chip are a fave in our house.
